an important suggestion to developers of Zotero

First, I have to say that I deadly love Zotero and it really helps me a lot. Thank you so much to you developers!

I'm a PHD student from China, and I'm really sorry to say that our government forbid us using any services of Google. So we Chinese researchers can not browse the website of Google Scholar.

Meanwhile, a native company called Baidu in China has put out their service for searching papers. Thus many Chinese researchers have to use this 'Baidu Scholar' instead of Google.

The website of 'Baidu Scholar' is as follows:
http://xueshu.baidu.com/

It seems that Zotero hasn't been able to translate this site till now.

So, my dear developers, could you please develop a translator for Baidu Scholar for the huge number of poor Chinese researchers?

Thank you very much!
  • None of the usual developers here speak/read mandarin, which makes writing translators for Chinese websites quite a hassle. Looking at Baidu Scholar via Google Translate, though, I don't see any way to export metadata. In Google Scholar, you can go into website settings and turn on BibTeX export links that then appear next to each entry. This is what Zotero uses to import Google Scholar search results. If Baidu Scholar does not offer anything similar, a translator is most likely not going to be possible.
  • I don't read Chinese either, but like aurimas, I don't see anything in the page or the settings that will deliver useable metadata.

The site does seem to have a feedback link, so your best option may be to ask the site maintainers to do something about that.
