Deleting tags from article sluggish

I've noticed that when I select an article, the tags tab, and click on the '-' to delete a tag, it's taking a good while, between 10-15 seconds. It's long enough that a person is likely to wonder if it's hung or if anything is happening (well, I did anyway).

I am using 1.0.0b3r1 on Windows XP & have about 500 references.
