There was an error starting zotero

Dear team of zotero,

I'm using the standalone version of zotero and after the last update I'm not longer able to start zotero. I'm using windows 7, the standalone version and the word plugin for word2010. The error console showed following messages:

1. Could not read chrome manifest 'file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Zotero%20Standalone/xulrunner/chrome.manifest'.

I tried to restart, deinstall and install again. But the error still occurs.

Is there anybody able to help me?

Best

  • by restart you mean restart your computer, yes?

    NS_ERROR_STORAGE_IOER
is typically not directly related to Zotero. In the easiest cases, just restarting you computer will fix it.
If you have your database on a network drive or on dropbox or the like, that could also cause this and you should stop doing that right away.

    Dan may have more ideas.
  • Dear Adam,

it seems that the problem is connected to the mentioned error(NS_ERROR_STORAGE_IOER).

Thank you very much for your support.

    Best wishes

I'm not clear on whether you're saying it's fixed now, but if not, you should do the things adamsmith said.
  • Dear Dan,

I identified the problem. The database is located on a network drive which is automatically made available offline. As long as I'm connected to the internet it is not a problem. I will transfer the folder to a "local" folder.

    Best
