To reproduce:

Try to save any YouTube URL (I tried 2). "Saving to ..." dialog presented but save to collection never completes.

Error:

[JavaScript Error: "Attempting to use a disconnected port object" {file: "extensions::messaging" line: 70}]

[JavaScript Error: "getTranslators: detection is already running" {file: "chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/zotero/translation/translate.js" line: 1000}]

Zotero Connector: 4.0.21

Just noticed that this doesn't match (recently auto-updated) standalone Zotero. Does that matter? I don't know how to update the connector.

Connectors will not always match Zotero Standalone/Firefox versions, since they don't get updated as frequently.

I can't reproduce the issue though. Could you restart both Chrome and Zotero Standalone, then submit a debug log _from both_ (start debug logging in both Zotero Standalone and Chrome before attempting to save the page) for the _first_ attempt to save that YouTube page? You'll end up with two IDs, please post them both here.

Strangely, with FF the "Saving to ..." dialog doesn't disappear but the item *is* saved to a collection.

So the connector never gets to the point where it send data to ZSA? And there's nothing in the log to indicate that there's a response from http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/videos/MUryO_vJT1o ? (i.e. it looks like http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/videos/MUryO_vJT1o is timing out, right?)

Yeah, that's probably it.

@earcanal, unfortunately, there may be nothing we can do about this. Next time you encounter this issue, try replacing the YouTube URL that precedes the video ID with http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/videos/ and see if you can access that page (this is where Zotero gets the metadata). So, for example, for a youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxXi09kRdrM you would make the URL http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/videos/FxXi09kRdrM If you get some sort of error, please let us know. Most likely, you will be unable to load the page. If that is the case, there's probably something either on your computer, on your network, or on YouTube that is blocking you from accessing that page. (the fact that this seems to work on Firefox, but not Chrome probably points to your computer setup or, possibly, YouTube filtering based on cookies)

I think we fixed this. There was an issue with accessing data over HTTP from an HTTPS page, which only made a difference in Chrome 38 and that just landed out of beta recently. Sorry I didn't notice that before. Should have checked in that version.

In any case, you can update your translators via Preferences -> General -> Update Now. It should work after restarting the browser.

Maria -- we'd need more information. That's not an error that'd actually cause any problems.
