JACS and J Chem Ed Conference Proceedings formatting doesn't seem to conform to ACS Style.

According to the ACS Style Guide, a meeting or conference reference should have the meeting place and date information first, followed by the publisher information. The present JACS and J. Chem. Ed. styles seem to reverse this information.
  • Do you mean the "Journal of the American College of Surgeons" and the "Journal of Chemical Education"? Where exectly did you read in the style guide about this issue?
  • (I'm looking at this - our ACS styles don't really deal with conference papers at all)
  • Sorry, I should have been more clear. JACS = Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Page 292 in the 2006 edition of the ACS Style Guide has an example for "Meeting or conference, full citation"

What I really aim to do is something more like what appears on page 308 for Abstracts (second example on that page).
  • Can I bring up this old topic to please ask someone to fix the ACS conference papers issue? I've got a student who is stymied by the fact that ACS doesn't cite them properly (I opened up another forum topic on this recently, too). (And it doesn't help his case with his advisor who is citation management-hostile, that this is broken...)
