I cannot edit citations

Hi,

I have some problems with the edit option (I use word). I can insert citations without problems, but when i close the file and then open it again, I cannot edit them (it does not highlight them in grey either). The Debug ID is D491380299.

    Which format are you saving them as (.doc, .docx, .rtf, something else)? Can you reliably reproduce the problem? Are you opening the files with something else, say, google docs, in between.

    Hi,

    thanks for your quick message. I was saving documents in .odt (all the documents saved in .odt seem to present the same problem - I have to manually reinsert the citations and save it in .docx if I want them to work). When saving documents with .docx, they seem to work fine. I think I'll stick to that format.

    I sometimes do copy paste from google drive, but I insert citations always using zotero standalone (not sure if relevant).

    by default, references are inserted in Word fields, which aren't compatible with .odt, so yes, we'd expect them to disappear.

    You can toggle that to bookmarks under Set Document Preferences in the ZOtero Word add-on (which will work in both .odt and .doc(x), though I'd recommend just sticking with .docx if you have can, since Fields are more reliable.
