Mac/Word - footnotes not showing up

I'm a complete novice at this.

Using Word 2011 for Mac OS10.7.5 with Zotero. I'm trying to use any of the citation styles: American Medical Association, JAMA, or American Journal of Emergency Medicine.

Regardless of which style I choose, I don't have the option to choose between footnote or endnote. And, indeed, no footnote or endnote is generated.

I'm not a tech guy, I just want to write a case report! What the heck am I doing wrong here?
  • Neither of those is a note-based style. They're all numeric styles, meaning that they place a number in the text to indicate citations with a full bibliography inserted where you choose (usually at the end) using the "Insert Bibliography" button.

If you want a note style, use something like Chicago Manual of Style.
  • That was extremely helpful, to say the least.

About 5 hours of fiddling in Openoffice, trying to learn Mendeley, downloading Word, trying a scad of citation styles... and all I needed was someone to say "Dude, just hit 'Insert Bibliography' when you're all done.

Well, I owe you a cold one!
