Importing reference into default folder?

Whenever I select Import > and import a reference file, it creates a new folder for that file. Is there any way to send the import automatically into a pre-defined or selected folder?

    If you open the file with a text editor, select all, copy, then "Import from Clipboard" in Zotero, the import will go into the currently selected collection.

    ...without (relative) attachments, but that probably doesn't matter to you
