Chromebook compatible?

I have a Samsung Chromebook and I am clueless as to how to use this or it just isn't working due to the nature of the Chromebook itself...
I have the Zotero icon on the top right of the screen and when I click on it to save an item it will state "saving item" forever and a day,,
something is not right but I can't figure it out :(
  • so to start - while what you're trying should work, Zotero isn't really compatible with a chromebook. You can't install the actual software that provides most of the functionality, including, e.g. word processor integration, advanced search, moving items between group and personal libraries and the like. So if this is your main computer you'll likely want to look at a different product. Of the ones I know of, Paperpile is probably the best bet, since it's optimized for Chrome though it's not free. Afaik, the other big ones like Mendeley or Papers won't run on a Chromebook, either.

If, on the other hand, you just need to add items to your online Zotero library from Chrome on your Chromebook, that should work. Which bage have you tried this on?
  • Thank you for your quick reply, Adam.I only need Zotero to organize my literature for me, since I am working on a literature review. But since I don't even know how to do that I probably tried to do something way beyond Chromebook capacity.
  • right, and the organizing abilities you have with the online Zotero library are rather limited and you can't install the actual software. But still wondering - which page have you tried this on?
  • I had the page of the article I wanted to use open and I moved the cursor over to the zotero icon in the top right of the screen and clicked on it and it said "saving item" but it never did..
I really only want to save the citation not the entire article...oh well
  • Can you submit a Debug ID for attempting to save that article? https://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output#zotero_connectors_chrome_and_safari
