Can you exclude the first footnote from count?

Some publications require that the author information is included as a footnote that is designated with an asterisk rather than a number. That can be done in Microsoft Word easily, with the immediately following footnote starting from #1. But Zotero (MLZ) still counts the asterisked-footnote as #1 and has the supra numbers all off (by 1, of course).

Is there any solution to this?

    Zotero doesn't seem to understand sectioned footnotes in Word and I'm not sure it can. For this particular issue, though, rather than a footnote, you can just put that information into the page-footer on the title page manually.
