Visual CSL Editor - Changes not visible in the preview pane

Hi, I'm trying to adapt a Harvard style to the Berghahn publishers style, but I'm coming across a problem (bug?) with the Visual CSL Editor. I can't find a good forum/help documentation for the Editor, so hopefully someone here can help me. Please point me somewhere else if it's applicable.

What happens is that the changes I want don't show in the Visual Editor.

Specifically, I want the given names to be initialised, and followed by a full stop in the bibliographic entry - like this: Rainie L.

All I see in the Visual Editor is the surname, and no initials.

However, if I download and install the style, the proper intials etc. do show up in the Zotero test pane and when I test it in Word.

So - it actually works (so it's not a critical problem), but I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong, and/or there's some bug. I'm also worried that if this is not showing up, I may spend time on other aspects that also don't show up.

Thanks,
Julian
  • could you click on "Code Editor" in the visual editor click in the window with the code, select all, copy and paste to gist.github.com (no registration required), click on "Create Public Gist" at the bottom and provide the URL here.
  • Hi and thanks for responding, here is the link:

  • this is a bug, but you can fix this for the style by changing the givenname-disambiguation-rule to "all names" (which does exactly the same, since you have initialize-with=". " set in the author-short macro).
  • I've reported this here: https://github.com/citation-style-editor/csl-editor/issues/171
but there is no one really maintaining the visual editor, so not sure how much that's going to help, sorry.
  • Hi, many thanks for solving my problem.
