Trinity College Dublin Library - Partial Support

I emailed translators@zotero.org, but I didn't get a reply, so I'm reposting it here, just in case.

I have tested Zotero with the main catalogue in Trinity College, Dublin
Here, which uses Geac GeoWeb 5.5

I tested it with the following book, ISBN: 0713161167:
Piers Plowman, by William Langland

Direct link to the record:
Here

Issues I noted:
1. It incorrectly identifies the number of pages, which are detailed
in the "Description" field as
"[5],416p. ; 24cm"

As "5" when it should be "416"

2. It incorrectly stores the call number(s), which in this case should be:
LEN 828.1 LAN L8;1
LEN 828.1 LAN L8;2
LEN 828.1 LAN L8;3
ARTS 828.1 LAN L8

As "821/.1"

3. It does not capture the "Notes" field

4. It does not scrape the direct URL link to the resource.

Here's the MARC output for the entry:

  • I looked into this issue and found that the Trinity College catalog generally works well with Zotero. Unfortunately, some library records with unusual pagination descriptions (like the one above) do not import correctly. At present we do not capture the notes or url from these library entries. The catalog number should import correctly, and I will check our translator.
  • urschri, thank you for testing the Trinity College Dublin Library catalog. I've added it to the list of supported sites.
  • Pagination in MARC is a pain. What we did in the U Calif software when we needed a single statement of pagination is that we took the largest number in the 300 $a. Actually, I think the code just looked for the longest string of 0-9, and that was accurate often enough.
