Supress Same Author - american journal of archaeology

The current american journal of archaeology style reprints the author name for each citation even if it is the same author, e.g. Smith 2004; Smith 2005; Smith 2007. How do you alter the style to list the author only once?
  • This is how it should look:
    1 Lancaster 1998, 1999.
    2 Davis 2001, 47–106; 2006, 306.
    3 Hamilton 2007a, 2007b.
    4 Geagan 1995a, 16–20, 42.
  • I'll fix this, but if you need to do it quickly and know your way around CSL a little, you need to add collapse="year" to cs:citation
  • I tried adding collapse, but I wasn't sure how to fix up the rest. It needs to employ semicolons where a work has page numbers but only commas when the work has no page numbers. With collapse everything is a comma.

    Korres 1978, 100-101; 1982.

    Branigan 1980, 1992.

That can't be done, sorry. It'll now do the collapse with a comma, that seems like the better solution.
The updated version will appear on the repository within 30mins (check the timestamp). Update your copy of the style by clicking "Update Now" in the General tab of the Zotero preferences.

Styles also update automatically within 24hs for Zotero 4.0+
In an existing document, you may have to switch to a different style and back for the changes to take effect once the style is updated.
Any further problems please let us know & thanks for reporting
  • Hmm. Unfortunately I can't just use a comma. It has to comply with AJA style exactly and there are too many citations to do this manually. Is this feature hard-coded into the csl processor?
