How to copy a reference item from a library to another library?

I tried to copy a reference item from a library to another one, thought this is a simple task, somehow I could not find a simple copy/past to do the task.

Any one can help?

drag&drop in the left-hand panel. Works only in the Zotero software, not online on zotero.org. If that doesn't work, please describe a bit more what you're trying to do and what happens when you try.

I tried drag&drop online on zotero.org, it worked for me. I dragged a item from the middle panel, then dropped it to a destination library on the left panel. Thanks a lot.

I am unable to drop items from anywhere to anywhere, they are just not being picked up by the mouse pointer, everything stays right where it is. Exporting to text editors by drag&drop isn't working either (fortunately, the key combo is).
Also I don't see any other way to move items to other collections, etc. The context menu only has the option to move things to trash.
My operating system is Kubuntu 14.04, Firefox 29.0 (Ubuntu version), Zotero 4.0.20.2
On a side note, I wonder how it's still 4.0 though when apparently a 4.1 is in the works since a while already (specifically, I really need this feature of 4.1: https://github.com/zotero/zotero/commit/d318bca7a4c32c36b5d39cba20dad642678aa6a2)

See if disabling other Firefox add-ons and themes helps.
If not, provide a debug ID for trying to drag and item from one collection to another. https://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output

On a side note, I wonder how it's still 4.0 though when apparently a 4.1 is in the works since a while already

major new versions are released when they're ready and sufficiently tested for release. People trust Zotero with important data and documents, no one is going to benefit from rushing releases. If you looks at that commit, it's a significant change in the code base, which is why Dan didn't include it in the regular 4.0 release cycle.

Thank you. Sure enough, disabling the Ubuntu modifications on Friefox by Canonical helped, so that is something they need to take care of!

Well, we're into a new beta cycle, and it seems to work — let's give it a try. Now available in the latest 4.0 Beta. Please start a new thread if you come across any issues with the modifier-key drag, and be sure to clarify that you're using the beta version. (It doesn't currently support the modifier key for cross-library drags, just collection drags. I'll see if I can implement it for cross-library drags soon.)
