Cannot find some sources that I used in my library

I am just finishing my phd thesis and have been going though my footnotes and realized that some footnotes that I created using Zotero do not appear in my library in Zotero Standalone. I used to use Firefox zotero but have synced everything and now these missing files are making me worried. The word document still recognizes them and even if I try to add a citation with Zotero standalone, they pop up in the quick format but are not in my library- how could this happen?

incomplete sync or deleted items are the only reasons I can think of. Zotero saves item data into your document, that's why they're still working.
