search in notes?

hi
I'm using Zotero standalone for mac, and when I open a note I can not search inside, thing that bothers me a lot. Anyone have a solution?

    not really, it's a known issue. You may be able to search in a note if you switch it to HTML mode, but not sure.

    I tryed in HTML mode, but I couldn´t :-( It's really a pity. I hope a solutions will be provided soon.

    The other option: use the Firefox add-on when you work with notes. There you create a report for the item with the note(s) you want to search (middlepane>rightclick on item > create report) then use Cmd+F for the browser's built-in search function.
    HTML notes can be searched with FF-Zotero.
    You can keep your Standalone Zotero, just make sure FF-Zot and Standalons use the same database; obviously you can't run them both at the same time but switching is perfectly ok – many of us do.

    Thank you, It works this way, but the thing is that sometimes I have some concepts at the same note, and I want to add something, so I will have to search visually the concept in order to add more text, It's more time. Not a big problem though, the program is still very usefull!!

    A search function within notes in standalone would be very, very helpful! Really surprised it doesn't exit.

    Does that mean Zotero for Firefox cannot search within notes that I create or are created by Zotfile's 'Extract Annotations' feature?

    Well, Zotero can search there (both the Firefox and the Standalone version). Notes are included in the "all fields and tags" quick search and are an option in the advanced search.
    What's not possible in Standalone at all and in Firefox only in HTML mode for notes (and what this thread is about) is for you to search a word or phrase in a (longer) note, the same way you could e.g. search this page using ctrl+F

    Ah, sorry for missing the part about searching within a note. And relieved that all my notes are included in the quick search feature. Why not just copy-paste a note to Word and search there? Not as convenient, though.

    exactly, the convenience is the issue. You can also generate a report and search that, but then if you want to edit the note at that spot you still have to find it in the note itself--so there's absolutely no question that this should work.
