Syncing been working fine, now failing

I've been using Zotero for years without issue. A moment ago sync starting failing. It looks like it might be a problem with the backend servers, but I'm not sure.
I just installed Zotero on a new machine. Zotero on this new machine gives the white-on-red exclamation mark near the Sync button. The Report ID is 251432599. The displayed error message is:
[JavaScript Error: "Error: Invalid response from server (Report ID: 8e9513e708)" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 652}]
I fired up my older machine and tried to sync the zotero library on there, but the green sync icon just kept spinning forever and the sync went nowhere.
