Can I copy my references from a word document to Zotero Database

I lost many Zotero references from my computer. My computer was formatted completely so there is not way to have them back. Given that I used that references in my thesis I have the citation of that references in a word document. Is there a way that I can copy the citation in the word document and put them in my zotero database again. I really appreciate any feedback. Thanks
  • No, not currently.

You didn't happen to sync your Zotero library to zotero.org, did you?

In general, you should always have backups of your Zotero data directory. See http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
  • Thanks for your answer. No I did not do it. I learn the lesson now I will back up my Zotero directory in the future. I lost hundreds of references. Thanks! Have a happy day!
  • If the references in your thesis had a DOI or ISBN, it may be not too difficult to re-import them quickly into Zotero using Add by Identifier tool.

And if you don't have DOIs in your thesis, but the items themselves would have them, you can batch retrieve DOIs from CrossRef by searching multiple items at a time in the search bar on the main page. I've done about two pages of references at a time without issues.
