footnote chemistry

hi,
like many other chemists, I need a style which can allow me to have footnote and bibliography for my citations. Is it gonna be developped?
The ACS style is really good and it could be very great to be able to make footnote with this style too.
  • Probably not, but I'm also not 100% sure I understand what you mean. Do you have an example paper or journal that does what you want?
Journals like JACS or Angewandte Chemie do not seem to use footnotes and the ACS styleguide makes no mention of them.
  • no the foot note is not for papers it's for thesis writting. Do you have a solution?
  • as I said, I don't know what you mean and I won't know without an example.
  • this is an example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fm5izl21lzo5hrh/2011CERG0509.pdf
  • I don't think that will happen, no. Word doesn't have a function for non-consecutive footnotes, so 1 and 86 following each other (as on p. 77) isn't really feasible with any reasonable amount of changes.
  • It's just an example. I don't need non-consecutive footnotes...
Do you undertand now what I need: footnote and bibliography in ACS style?
  • Not really, no. The numbers in front of the footnotes would seem to be a crucial part of the style as they also appear in the bibliography. And given the nature of the style, they'll be by definition non-consecutive—how else would the number of the citation correspond to the number of the bibliography entry.
  • ok thanks for your answer. It's too bad :-(
