Synchronizing Zotero and Word Styles

I've been adding tons of endnotes to one of my dissertation chapters but haven't been able to figure out a style-related hurdle in Word. After I type a clause and/or sentence and am ready to add an endnote, I click on the References tab in the header and then Insert Endnote. In the Home tab, I've already created a customized "Endote Hanging Indent" tab so all my endnotes are pre-formatted that way. However, I can't seem to get the hanging indent in sync from Home to References. Every time I click Insert Endnote, it always indents the numbered note a .5 inch (tabbed in). So I always have to go back to Home and click on the special style I created. How can I get the References tab to format a H.I.? Where do I go to modify the format and set it as a default in that tab?
  • Two thoughts:
    1. Why not just accept the "wrong" formatting while you write and just apply the correct one towards the end. Doing this every time you insert and endnote seems like a waste of tiem

    2. Check which Word style Zotero uses for Endnotes - it's probably something like "Endnote" or "Endnote 1" - modify that style rather then creating one with a different name.
  • Also, it's not really clear to me that you are using Zotero for this, since Zotero functions are not found on the References tab, but in the Add-Ins. What adamsmith says still stands though.
