Word 2013 file using Zotero Firefox Extension has Suddenly Become Corrupt
tldr: Word 2013 + Firefox extension + saving in Google Drive: Opened the word file on my tablet through Drive and saved. When I returned to PC (Windows 8), the .docx file had suddenly become corrupted. All of my footnotes are GONE!
Please help..
I've been using the the Firefox Zotero extension to write a research paper in Word 2013 and saving the file in Google Drive for backup. After working on the thing non-stop for the last 2 weeks, I finally finished the thing today. At this point I stepped away from the computer and opened the file up on my tablet through the Google Drive app to read over it/apply minor edits. I made maybe two small edits, at which point I decided it was too awkward to edit on a tablet, so I saved the document and moved over to my PC (Windows 8). That's when everything went wrong. Suddenly my Research Paper was inaccessible.
At this point, I've managed to recover all of the text and even the bibliography. The problem is that a) all of my footnotes (except for those on the first page) are GONE and b) the formatting is kind of messed up, i.e., there's large gaps at the bottom of each page where the footnotes used to be, but it won't allowed to remove these footnote areas.
So far I've tried rebuilding the zotero.sqlite database file using the Zotero database fixing tool https://www.zotero.org/utils/dbfix/
I really have no idea what SQL is, but followed all the steps and and when I reopened Firefox.... nothing happened.
This is what the tool tells you to expect:
From the database recovery tool I was given Upload ID 52f7ee7d81c27
as a reference in any correspondence with the Zotero team.
On the Word side of things, when I try to open the file (.docx), I receive this error message:
Here's what Details says:
I download the right version (x64) but when I go to install it, I get ANOTHER error message telling me that the converter is only for Office 2010. (I have 2013).
So that's where I'm at. Can anyone offer me any assistance??

Now I have no idea whether this "upgrade process" occurs in the background or what, but I do know that my paper is still unreachable several hours later. When you're done, start Firefox/Standalone, and the upgrade process should proceed smoothly. Note that it may take a while to complete.

On the Word side of things, when I try to open the file (.docx), I receive this error message:
There's two options in this dialogue: "OK" and "Details".We're sorry. We can't open Research Paper because we found a problem with its contents."
Here's what Details says:
If I hit OK instead, Word informs me that there is unreadable content in "Research Paper", and it asks if I want to recover the contents of the document. So I click "yes", which leads to another dialogue telling me that Word can't open it, do I want to go to office.com for a xml converter that'll open the file. "yes", which leads me to this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967950Illegal name character. Location: Part: /word/footnotes.xml, Line: 1, Column 10965

Doesn't google drive have some versioning things for your files so that you could go back to an older version?
This has nothing to do with the database so if you can open Zotero normally just leave that alone.
Oh, my God. Wow, I can't believe I didn't already try that, but if it wasn't for your suggestion, I never would have. Seriously THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
