Sciencedirect and Compendex translators not working

I don't know if the fact that both of these translators are broken for me is a coincidence, or an indication that something's wrong on my end, but these are the only two not working out of the several I've used in the last hour or so.

Nothing on sciencedirect appears to be working for me, e.g. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0961953413004947
Report ID: 871754711

Same deal on compendex, e.g.
http://www.engineeringvillage.com/search/doc/detailed.url?pageType=quickSearch&CID=quickSearchDetailedFormat&SEARCHID=70b1d80c143eeeb0452M5217prod2con2&DOCINDEX=1&docid=null&database=1&displayPagination=yes&format=quickSearchDetailedFormat&dedupResultCount=null
Report ID: 159740371

Icon appears in address bar as usual, and no error message received in either case--the "saving to my library" box pops up, but there's nothing else in the box.

Using Zotero for Firefox on Windows 7; Translators, zotero, and firefox all up to date. Have restarted Firefox to no avail.
  • Working on the ScienceDirect fix (they changed their website a bit).

I can't access the link for Engineering Village (it's tied to your session). Can you provide more detail on what search you are performing and what links you are clicking to get to the page that fails to import.

Sciencedirect definitely looks broken, thanks. Maybe Aurimas gets a chance to look at this tonight, else I'll look tomorrow.

Your link to compendex is broken (they're tied to session IDs), just tell us how to get to a result that's not importing.

    edit: ok, that's a little creepy ;)
  • Thanks!

I should've figured the direct link wouldn't work. I'm getting the same thing for all the papers I load on engineering village. One example is "Fuel ethanol production from sweet sorghum bagasse using microwave irradiation". If you have access to the database (from www.engineeringvillage.com), you should be able to just search for that title and click through to the individual record page. DOI and COinS are both available and work by right clicking on the icon, but the engineering village translator gives me nothing.
  • By "click through to the individual record page", which link are you clicking? The Abstract and Detailed links work for me and the Full Text leads me to ScienceDirect, which is obviously currently broken.
  • ScienceDirect should be fixed. Update your translators via Preferences -> General -> Update Now. You'll need to reload the page.
  • Sorry, should've been more specific, the translators on neither the abstract nor detailed pages work for me. For that matter, neither does using the "select items" window from the search results page. (I only noticed it wasn't working because the sciencedirect translator was down, and I typically use the index search page translator as a backup.)
  • yup, search result, Detailed, and Abstract view work for me for that article.
    Check 7 and 9 here:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues
if that doesn't help, we'll probably also want a debug ID for trying to save that article:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output
  • Sciencedirect working on my end again, so thanks!

Not sure on the compendex. I was already set to accept cookies, but changed to "remember history" to be on the safe side, restarted with all addons but Zotero disabled, and no dice. I went ahead and generated a debug output--ID: D1725468388
  • It will take some time before Dan can come around and take a look at the Debug ID.

    Thanks for reporting btw.
  • thanks. We'll need Dan to look at the debug.
  • No problem... I really wasn't expecting same day service on any of it. :-)

I just realized I generated the debug output on a different paper than the title I listed above (this one is "Effects of ions and surfactant on enzymatic hydrolysis of sweet sorghum bagasse"), but neither works for me, so I don't guess it matters.

    Thanks again!

  • Thanks Dan.

@duvane5678, should be fixed now. Update your translators as per above and try again.
  • Yep, that's got it. Thanks again!
