Duplicates that aren't
Hello (again).
So, standalone works a LOOOOT quicker for importing RIS.txt files when it's not attmepting to autosync - I managed to get 500 records imported in <10mins. HURRAH.
However, I now have false duplicates.
The original file was deduplicated and contained none - so imagine my surprise to find loads. Some of them: 21 times.
Looking at each individual though; their titles are different, their authors are differnet...er...everything is different: they're not duplicates at all.
I'm intending to download a whole load of other references from HEED (not on OVID) which I was hoping to use Zotero's duplicate function to check for (true) duplicates. Can this not be done?
Shall I send the original txt file through somewhere see if you get the same problem?
Thanks ,
Naomi

Generally what you want to do is possible, but Zotero doesn't have a great way do deal with false duplicates (which do occur at times) at the moment. Best strategy I can think of is this:
1. Once you have everything imported, create a colored tag "duplicate" and assign it to all items in the "Duplicate" saved search.
2. Now, still in that saved search, filter by that tag - right now, you'll still see all items, obviously.
3. You can now simply remove an item - one that isn't a duplicate - from that view by removing the tag (which you can do by just pressing the number assigned to it.
See more on colored tags here: http://zotero-manual.github.io/zotero-manual/tags#colored_tags
