Open links of the form zotero://select/items/ with the standalone version

Is there a way to open links of the form zotero://select/items/ with Zotero standalone and let Zotero jump to the corresponding entry? If not this would be a useful feature.

    Not currently, no, but I don't think anyone would be against it. It's just that someone has to code it and there are more pressing issues to resolve.

    @aurimas - are you sure this doesn't work? I'd imagine with Zotero registered as the zotero:// protocol handler they'd open?

    I don't think Zotero registers itself as a zotero: handler system-wide (it's not working on my Windows system anyway). AFAICT, it only handles zotero: protocol within Firefox, but I haven't explored too much. It's not difficult to register as the handler, but then Zotero must be able to take URIs as command line arguments and must also handle that while already open. I'm not sure how trivial that is to implement. Or maybe it's already implemented and my system is just a bit messed up.
