Upgrade Storagenext release date (FAQ?)

How can I tell when the next release of the standalone plugin will be? I have search the forums for an answer and found multiple posts asking "when is the next release" at various times, but no consistent answer on the release cycle.. Is there a time-based release schedule?
I am particularly interested in seeing this patch in a release:

... as it is a blocker for adoption for me!
