relinking citations

Hello,

excuse me for what is probably a naive question for the zotero power users out there:

I wrote a paper linking citations to my personal zotero database - viewing the field codes I can see that each one links to my user page on zotero.

Now I'm collaborating, putting a volume of papers together including my own - and using a Zotero group to store citations for some dozen papers, including mine. We want all papers to use the same zotero group, so that citations will be consistent.

I can easily copy my local Zotero database to the group database, but apparently this creates a new database entry, and the paper's links remain connected to the local instances. How can I switch so that each citation gets relinked to the group database instead? Would I have to do this manually?? (I hope not....!)

Many thanks.
best, Michael Frishkopf
  • sorry no one answered this back then, but there unfortunately is no answer. If you want to switch citations from the copy in My Library to that in a group, there's no alternative to manually relinking.

It'd be nice to have a more elegant solution for that, but I don't think that's anywhere close.
  • Also, one thing that might be possible depending on the degree of editing necessary would be to just keep the references to the My Library items and have the group members be sure to select the item from the "Cited Items" section of the Insert Citation window when editing.
