Automatic pdf download from ASME website

I recently had trouble with automatically downloading pdfs from ASME site with stand alone and the chrome connector. This is the particular link I was using:

http://appliedmechanics.asmedigitalcollection.asme.org/article.aspx?articleid=1411320

I had to go through my university proxy, but when using sciencedirect and other sites through the proxy, the pdfs automatically download with no trouble. I am wondering if the issue is due to the fact that when ASME site opens a new tab before downloading. Is tis the case and is there a fix?

Thanks
Colin
  • I don't have access to the PDF, but if you open the PDF, what is the URL of the PDF exactly as you see it?
  • Thanks for the response, it is:

    http://appliedmechanics.asmedigitalcollection.asme.org.ezproxy.cul.columbia.edu/data/Journals/JAMCAV/26357/524_1.pdf
  • Hmm. Can you also produce a Debug ID from Zotero Standalone for an attempt to save that article through Chrome?
  • Ok, the ID is D1554902208

  • Thanks Dan. I kind of figured this would be the case. The PDF URL we pick up from the page is not proxied. I'm working on a more general fix for this.
