"Series" field not used by the style for "Book Section"?
Hi,
I'm wondering how Zotero deals with a book chapter in a volume in a book series, as the series title is missing in corresponding bibliography.
For example, I have a reference supposed to be like (APA 6th, according to examples from http://nova.campusguides.com/content.php?pid=114919&sid=992738):
Purchase, H. C., Freeman, E., & Hamer, J. (2012). An exploration of visual complexity. In P. Cox, B. Plimmer, & P. Rodgers (Eds.), Lecture Notes in Computer Science: Vol. 7352. Diagrammatic representation and inference (pp. 200–213). Berlin, Heidelberg: Springer Berlin Heidelberg. Retrieved from http://www.springerlink.com/index/10.1007/978-3-642-31223-6_22
but it turned out to be like:
Purchase, H. C., Freeman, E., & Hamer, J. (2012). An exploration of visual complexity. In P. Cox, B. Plimmer, & P. Rodgers (Eds.), Diagrammatic Representation and Inference (Vol. 7352, pp. 200–213). Berlin, Heidelberg: Springer Berlin Heidelberg. Retrieved from http://www.springerlink.com/index/10.1007/978-3-642-31223-6_22
I tried some other styles too, but the problem still existed.
I'm new to Zotero, could someone tell me how to fix it? Thanks!
My best interpretation of this would be to treat the entire part you have in red as the book title and include it in the title field.
Thanks for your replies!
TO aurimas: Yes, I'm using APA 6th edition style. It is my bad have not made this indication highlighted. :)
TO adamsmith: I think the problem might be the treatment of "Volume". When encountering with such a reference as I described, the value of the "Volume" field is supposed to be the volume number of the book title in the series. However, it seems the style has seen it as the volume number of the book section in the book, but, in fact, the book itself consists of only one volume.
So, I guess there might be two formatted right alternatives:
1. The first example I showed.
2. Just completely ignores the "Series" and "Volume", and the result should looks like:
Purchase, H. C., Freeman, E., & Hamer, J. (2012). An exploration of visual complexity. In P. Cox, B. Plimmer, & P. Rodgers (Eds.), Diagrammatic Representation and Inference (pp. 200–213). Berlin, Heidelberg: Springer Berlin Heidelberg. Retrieved from http://www.springerlink.com/index/10.1007/978-3-642-31223-6_22
edit: that's also how Zotero imports this. So I'm content with what we're doing here.
