Menubar Helper for Mac

This is a question/feature request for the Zotero Standalone client on Mac. The question, which I believe I know the answer to, is whether or not it is possible to save citations from Chrome/Safari to ZS when ZS *is not open*? To the best of my knowledge, you cannot. However, what is stopping Zotero from developing a simple "helper app" (I'm thinking here of Evernote) that lives in the Menubar and is always on, and thus able to receive input from Chrome/Safari when importing citations?

This would be a great feature. Any thoughts?

You can't directly store to Zotero Standalone, but - and I think that's what evernote does as well - with Zotero closed, using the connector sends data directly to your Zotero account online (obviously you need to log-in).
