sync to a different account

Hi,

I used to sync zotero standalone to zotero web's account,
but at some point I stopped doing that, so that the online
version was very different from the one I had in my zotero stand
alone.

Some weeks ago, I decided to clean "My library" online by
deleting all items without exception.
Then, I synchronized zotero standalone with the online version.
Even when I deleted all files in the online library there were
some conflicts, and after accepting the changes my local library
(standalone) changed too.
This is what I don't wanted, I wanted to keep everything I have
in my local library and put it in the online zotero.

To avoid the conflicts, I try to open a new zotero account and
try the sync. However, zotero said that the new account was not the
same as the account I used for the last sync. Finally, zotero
didn't do anything and "My library" in the new account is empty.

Maybe there are two separated threads in this post. However, this is
the approach I used to solved my problem which is still unsolved.
I would be very grateful for any comment.

Regards.
  • So do you still have an intact copy of your library on any computer?
If so, you can do "Restore to Zotero Server" from the Reset tab in the Sync tab of the Zotero preferences.
  • Hi,

thank you it worked. Zotero synchronized the directory's tree.
Many attachments were not copied into the online zotero, I have
a 300Mb free account and I checked the current storage is 219Mb.

Could you help me with these two questions:

    1) I want to maintain the local library with all attachments in there,
even when they are not in the online version. What can I do the next
time I sync zotero standalone with the online one?

    2) Do you know why only 219 of 300 Mb have been occupied? I am
pretty sure I have more than that in my local library.
    Regards.
  • 1. given your other thread I'm not sure that's relevant anymore, but you can turn off file sync in the sync tab of the Zotero preferences.

    2. Not really - kind of depends on what you did, but see: http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/files_not_syncing
in general if files don't sync to zotero.org
