  • Are you actually experiencing a problem with Zotero? Errors in the error report do not mean that there are actually problems with Zotero's function.

    See http://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_bugs#provide_steps_to_reproduce
  • I can not sync my data. I see nothing showing up on my local version showing up on the web based account. and I also do not see my groups that I subscribed to on the web based account showing up on my firefox group list.

  • [JavaScript Error: "Error: Error connecting to server. Check your Internet connection." {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 652}]
this would show up as a sync error. Which Zotero version are you using?

I'm looking into this. We don't need any more info.
  • Downloaded latest version
    4.0.14
  • THe very first time I tried to sync I got this error which is slightly different

JavaScript Error: "The character encoding of the HTML document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol." {file: "http://www.ucnrs.org/" line: 0}]

[JavaScript Error: "Error: Empty response from server. Please try again in a few minutes." {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 652}]
  • see Dan above, he has all the info he needs at this time, but for future reference:
that first error ("The character encoding...") will show up occasionally in Zotero error reports, but has nothing to do with Zotero, so you can ignore that. @Dan - I'm seeing that a fair amount - any reason you couldn't blacklist it?
  • browne.ucnrs: Try now.

    adamsmith: Done.
  • Thanks I am able to sync and also see the groups I am subscribed to. Is it something I could have corrected? Just in case I come across this again. I truely appreciate your assistance.
  • No, this was a one-time server fix. The library you were pulling down was actually large enough to break download processing on the server, so we had to tweak some settings to get it to go through. (The next major version of Zotero will feature a completely new sync architecture that doesn't try to sync all data at once, partly to avoid issues like this.)
