zotselect link -- links becomes obsolete after merging elements

Hi there:

I'm using evernote together with zotero and occasionally use links to my zotero items in evernote. However, after I merge two zotero elements, one of the links to the pre-merged items becomes obsolete so it is really a gamble whether the link in evernote still works. Is this a known issue and does a workaround exist?
