Draft for Zotero Toolbar Update

I would like to make a suggestion regarding the Zotero toolbar. Although the program itself is truly amazing, I feel like the interface is not as clear and simple as it could be. So I made a draft in Onenote to visualize the possibilities for improvement from a user's perspective and also with regards to other programs, like e.g. Mendeley or Papers.

Overview (Picture):

Details:
- larger icons (easier to use on HD-screens and tablets)
- descriptive text below icons except for search menu
- consistent labeling of existing menus and buttons
- combination of 'New Item' and 'Add Items by Identifier' menus into 'Add Files' menu
- option to import single documents or all documents inside a folder via 'Add Files' menu
- integration of 'Create Web Page from Current Page' button into 'Add Files' menu
- restructuring of 'Add Attachments' menu
- dynamic sync button to indicate errors
- merging of 'Search' & 'Advanced Search' menus
- no 'Locate' menu, instead access via file context menu & preferences (to manage engines)

Thank you to all the people who helped to create Zotero and who keep improving it. I appreciate the work that you guys do.
  • Hello Philipp,

yep, and hotkeys ([Alt+_]-combinations) and shortcuts must be added from the point of view of a Windows user.

    Many thanks and greetings
