Can zotero search a word document?

I've been trying this without success so i assume the answer is no, but please let me know if there is any work-around.

    The answer is "no."

    You can convert it to HTML or PDF.

    There have been discussions here previously about searching Word Docs--there are open source programs to convert them to text, as we do with PDFS. It might be a reasonable project for someone to implement, but I haven't looked deeply into it in a while.

    Ok, thanks for confirming. If anyone can recommend an open-source program that i can run on the Macbook for this that would be great. Many thanks.

    PS: i thought a word doc was text - shows you how little i know!

    you mean converting docs to html or pdf? Word can save as html and you can use Mac's print to pdf function to convert any Word document to PDF.
