how to type diacritics in zotero

This is my first post to the forum. I imported a citation from a website and one of the author's names is supposed to have an umlaut u in it but appears as "Brütt". So the name should be "Brutt" with the u having the two dots above it. How can I type the umlaut u within zotero? and i guess the larger question is how to type diacritics in zotero if they characters do not import correctly?

1. Zotero will import all utf-8 characters correctly with the correct import data. Where did you import this from? (URL)
2. You can just type umlauts into Zotero like you would here on the forum. There are various ways to do this, e.g. I just switch to a German keyboard layout and type äöüß, you can also copy and paste them, or use keyboard combinations depending on your operating system. The only thing that won't work is using key combination that are specific to MS Word.
