Patents in timeline

I just noticed that patents don't show up in the timeline view. My guess for why this happens is because documents are sorted by 'Date Published', but patents have an 'issued date' instead. Is there a work around for this?
Edit: just noticed that patents show up if you filter by 'date added', so the lack of 'Date published' field is the reason they don't show up on the regular timeline

I'm sure that could be fixed, but no one has touched the Timeline code for ages and I don't think it's high priority, so if someone wanted to submit a patch that'd be very welcome.

Patents show up in timelines for me. "Issue Date" is mapped to "Date" (called "Date Published" in the timeline view). Are you sure you're not thinking of "Filing Date"?

Hmm, they still aren't showing up for me. The patents all have the issue date filled in. I'm using the 4.0.11 standalone client for linux on ubuntu so maybe that has something to do with it
It's not a huge issue for me anyway. Thanks for looking into it

@Dan, I don't see patents either, and it would make sense, because https://github.com/zotero/zotero/blob/4.0/chrome/content/zotero/xpcom/timeline.js#L36 should be var date = item.getField(dateType, true, true); to map base fields.

(@corrigo - fixed now here means it's fixed for the next Zotero version (4.0.13) unless you're in a big hurry to get this. If so we can tell you how to install a preliminary version)

Just discovered zotero the other day and it's made my life a lot easier
