Database error and unable to open Zotero standalone

Hello,

I just installed Zotero standalone about a week ago. Now when I try to open Zotero standalone, I receive the following error message:

Database upgrade error

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80630001 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_BUSY) [mozIStorageConnection.commitTransaction]" nsresult: "0x80630001 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_BUSY)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 497" data: no] [ERROR: database is locked]

I believe it is not syncing with my online/Firefox Zotero either because the work I did several days ago in standalone is not visible in Firefox.

  • Is your Zotero data directory in its default location on your local drive, or have you moved it (to a network drive, to Dropbox, etc.)?

    Does this persist after you restart your computer?

    I received this error as well. My data directory is local, but it is in a custom location (NTFS file system mounted in Ubuntu).

    Based on the comment above, I performed a full chkdsk /f by booting into Windows which seemed to resolve the problem.
