Zotero standalone, pdfs, and webpages
I'm having trouble downloading from websites into Zotero, particularly pdfs. I'm using Zotero standalone on a Mac with safari. There are two issues:
Firstly, on a journal webpage, selecting "export citation" in Zotero format leads to a file being downloaded into the downloads folder. It does not go directly into Zotero. Further, when I click on it, it opens in Papers (which I have a trial version of). I cannot see a way to set the computer to open this file type in Zotero.
Secondly, I can't download pdfs directly into Zotero. Clicking the Z connector on safari exports the citation (so working around the first issue though without bringing the abstract) and even the pubmed entry, but not the pdf. In preferences I have selected "automatically attach associated PDFs and other files when saving items" so I don't know why this is.
Any help with these issues would be much appreciated!

adamsmithWhich sites are you trying this on? Sample URLs for specific articles? (and when available, always use the Connector icon, don't use export citations)
