Full Chrome extension like in Firefox, allowing managing from browser

It would be great if a full Chrome version could be implemented, meaning that standalone would not be needed, as in Firefox, allowing to manage zotero's library from browser.

Thank you!
  • This is highly unlikely to happen. Zotero was built as a Firefox extension using Firefox's architecture. That is why Firefox has a fully-integrated extension. Even Standalone is really running in a separate Firefox-based shell. Chrome uses a completely different structure. Creating a Chrome version of the original Zotero extension would require recoding most of the software.

What exactly are you looking for in terms of managing the library from the browser? Most of this functionality can be accomplished using the zotero web page.
  • this almost certainly won't happen.
AFAIK it's just not possible within Chrome's extension framework and even if it were it would require a huge development effort and I don't think there's any chance of finding a grant for that (which is the only chance of funding it), especially considering that Standalone does exist and works very well.

My recommendation would be to learn more about the Windows management system of your OS - you can likely just assign a keyboard shortcut to both Zotero Standalone and Chrome that will allow you to focus one or the other with one keystroke - including in split screen if need be - to get essentially the same effect as managing your library "from your browser".
