how disable mac word plugin control+option+E

Hello,
mac word plugin control+option+E produces the following error message: "Sie müssen eine Zitation einfügen, bevor Sie diese Operation durchführen" - what translates somewhat to "first insert a citation before executing this operation".
I deleted zotero.dot (although there was no macro assigned to control+option+E), the zotero macros disappeared, but not the above behaviour.
Befor removing zotero.dot I got an error message when entering control+option+E while in Word's "Customize Keyboard" reading "... (OSStatus-Fehler-10000.) @[prepareReadFieldCode:document.m:205] when calling method [zoteroIntegrationDocument::getFields]".
How can I get rid of that?
regards, Res

Rename Edit Citation\coe.scpt in your Word Script Menu Items folder to get rid of the \coe. The location of this folder depends on the version (and, for older versions, language) of Word.
  • Thanks - unfortunately this is too cryptic for me, and sounds somewhat strange to remove an installation. I run Microsoft word for Mac 2011. I cannot find any file nor folders looking similar to what you say. And it was surely zotero that inserted this behaviour: when Firefox (with zotero) is not running, I get the error "Could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure that ... Firefox is open ...". And the same thing happens to other commands as well: cor, cod, ...
Can you please give more detailed instructions?

Assuming you have Word for Mac 12.2.0 or later, in Finder, hold down Option and select Library from the Go menu. Then open Application Support/Microsoft/Office/Word Script Menu Items/Zotero and rename Edit Citation\coe.scpt to Edit Citation.scpt. You can rename the others if you want too.
  • great, this is it, thank you so much! - It's all about system knowledge.
