"Unread" column

In Mendeley, all items are marked as "unread" on import. It is possible to toggle this status, as well as easily identify and sort by read and unread status, by using the small small "read/unread" column in Mendeley's library view. I realize it is possible to use collections for this in Zotero, but Mendeley's implementation of this feature is very simple and highly convenient. I hope this can be implemented in Zotero.

In the same line, please also allow us to "star" or favorite items using a similar column. Simple solutions and features like these can sometimes be the most versatile, since it's up to each user how they make use of them.

That is one solution, though it requires many steps: Select reference(s), find/type tag in tag cloud, drag reference(s) to tag. Nevermind! I saw the number key feature. Now it is very simple indeed. However, there is no way to easily sort a list by read/unread status (I know it is possible to filter by tags).
  • "Color coded tags can also be assigned particularly quickly. When you assign a color, you also assign a number to a tag. You can then automatically tag any item(s) selected in the middle panel just by pressing that number on your keyboard." (from the link above)
