Problems importing RIS files
Dear all,
I have troubles importing RIS files when I use Zotero. Basically what I want to do is export literature entries from the library catalogue of the University of Vienna so that I can include them into my Zotero library. In the library catalogue, I can use the "send to" button to export the selected entry as a RIS files. Once I press the "Export RIS" link, it opens a new window and asks me in which format I want to save the file. Four format types are available: UTF-8, ISO-8859-1, US-ASCII and windows-1251. It then saves a RIS file. However, when I try to import this file using Zotero's Standalone version, the following error message appears: "The selected file is not a supported format". I have tried all the four different format types mentioned above, yet without success. Does anybody know what I goes wrong?
Down below is a link to a random book entry that I would like to export from the library catalogue as RIS file (the "send to" and "Export RIS" is on the right hand side of the website).
Many thanks for your help.
Reinhard

This is an old discussion that has not been active in a long time. Before commenting here, you should strongly consider starting a new discussion instead. If you think the content of this discussion is still relevant, you can link to it from your new discussion.
But is there a reason you're not using Zotero's Primo translator? Are you using one of the Zotero connectors (i.e., browser extensions that allow you save directly to Standalone)?
there is a German saying (and I think it also exists in English): I didn't see the wood for the trees... And that is exactly what happened here. Many thanks for your hint!
All the best,
