Basically I couldn't sync after installing a huge database, but I had something like that before. I tried to empty some trash because I thought I had exceeded my allowance. But that's also not true.

Pretty much have to shut down alot of other applications to feed its busy-ness or crashing-ness.

If you're getting a freeze while syncing, the basic answer is that it's almost certainly doing something and you just need to wait longer. Try letting it go when you'll be away from your computer for a while.
If you're getting a freeze just while searching with auto-sync disabled, we'll need a Debug ID for that to be able to tell you what's going on.
Anyhow, luckily a few days before this all went wrong, I did a system wide-back up. So I did a whole image restore. Drastic, but luckily it brought it back to before I did this massive import. Perhaps the lesson is not to do such a massive import.And to have an image back up!!
