Error 1460209220

The ID is 1460209220.

Basically I couldn't sync after installing a huge database, but I had something like that before. I tried to empty some trash because I thought I had exceeded my allowance. But that's also not true.

TT
  • How many items, including child items? Is your trash empty?
  • Also, can you provide a Debug ID for a sync attempt that fails?
  • There were lots in the trash - thousands....maybe even more,..

    Debug itself says not responding...
  • Though I see 501255 lines logged in the preference window.
  • And my Areo cursor just keeps spinning... Zotero is consuming a lot of memory from my Windows Task Manager viewing.

    1,615,588K.

Pretty much have to shut down alot of other applications to feed its busy-ness or crashing-ness.

I keep getting new ones, seems to recall getting one starting with 2 or 3...
  • Yet another new ID: 1341349934
  • OK, but how many items do you have, exactly? And can you confirm that you've emptied the trash?
  • Items - around 17600

    In trash, still 265 items.
  • Sorry no items in trash.
  • OK, that's just a massive upload that was exceeding various server limits. Try again now.
  • I still have problems - can't search either as it also sends it crashing. My Mendeley is also affected - don't know if that is because I have both plugins in Word. I might now try an overall system backup restore.
  • When it crashes - says XUL Runner is not responding.
  • Is it crashing or freezing? If the latter, how long have you let it go?
  • I am not sure if I know the difference - any command I tried from sync to search, it just freezes whilst my cursor turns and turns, then Zotero says it's not responding - pretty much the same time, everything turns to white.
  • Crashing would mean the program was closing unexpectedly. If it's just not responding, that's a freeze. So you should try letting it go for a little while. If it eventually comes back, provide a Debug ID for a such a freeze. And make sure you've temporarily disabled auto-sync in the Sync pane of the preferences so you can actually tell what's a sync and what's not.
  • Sorry Dan, I am in transit. Based on your description, I would say it's a freeze. And the Debug ID is what I've submitted from the very beginning. Also yes the auto-sync has been disabled - otherwise, it would freeze straight away upon boot up.

You've actually only provided Report IDs—though you did say you weren't able to submit debug output. If you manage to log a freeze (starting/clearing the debug output right before an operation that causes a freeze, ideally), try to submit it.

If you're getting a freeze while syncing, the basic answer is that it's almost certainly doing something and you just need to wait longer. Try letting it go when you'll be away from your computer for a while.

If you're getting a freeze just while searching with auto-sync disabled, we'll need a Debug ID for that to be able to tell you what's going on.
  • I've tried that already Dan, quite a few times.

Anyhow, luckily a few days before this all went wrong, I did a system wide-back up. So I did a whole image restore. Drastic, but luckily it brought it back to before I did this massive import. Perhaps the lesson is not to do such a massive import. And to have an image back up!!

    Thanks all the same Dan.
