Society of Biblical Literature Citation Style

I've been using the citation style called "Society of Biblical Literature (full note)" for about five years. It's been excellent.

One problem: Recently it has been automatically abbreviating items in footnotes. For example, this article should appear in a footnote like this:

Jason S. DeRouchie, “The Blessing-Commission, the Promised Offspring, and the Toledot Structure of Genesis,” Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society 56 (2013): 219–47.

(with "Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society" italicized)

But Zotero is inserting it with the journal name like this: "J. Evang. Theol. Soc."

And I've manually inserted a "Journal Abbr" for this entry ("JETS"). So the footnote should actually appear like this (with "JETS" italicized):

Jason S. DeRouchie, “The Blessing-Commission, the Promised Offspring, and the Toledot Structure of Genesis,” JETS 56 (2013): 219–47.

Any idea what's going on?
  • Turn off the option "Automatically Abbreviate Journal Titles" under "Set Document Preferences" in the Word Processor Plugin.
Zotero uses a list and algorithm for abbreviation which is designed for use in the sciences (as almost all journals requiring abbreviations are in medicine or science). Unchecking that option turns that off and goes back to using the content of the Journal Abbr. field.
  • Thank you! Problem solved.
