Syncing With Orignal Files in Dropbox

Hello!

I have been having issues with syncing some PDF and word documents across computers and have tried a few different approches to resolve these issues.

These documents are saved into a group library so I first attempted simply signing into the account that is attached to the group in the computer the files cannot be opened on. This did not work.

I also tried saving the documents outside of drop box and re-uploading them.
Lastly I tried reseting the sync history and this did not change the issues I've been having.

Is there anyway I can fix this problem and avoid it in the future? I appreciate any help!

Cheers!
  • Are those attachments stored in Zotero or links to attachments in a Dropbox folder?
You can tell by selecting "Show File" for one of the attachments - what is its filepath.
  • it's path is file>storage>QZ7WUP8 So I think it is stored in zotero storage. I realized now that this problem exists on other files throughout the library on various computers
  • OK, and how does dropbox figure into this set-up?
In the Zotero Preferences under "Sync" do you have the option to sync files in groups enabled?
Finally, does the owner of the group have enough space in her/his storage account?
  • The original PDFs are stored in a dropbox folder for some of the files.

There are others that are not connected that have been uploaded by one group member in particular, who has run out of storage, but the group owner still has space.

The group sync is selected as "as needed"

Ok! I tried those things and sent the Debug to the zotero server. I used computer A and synced then opened a file that does not work on computer b and then a file from b that does not work on A
  • you'll need to post the Debug ID here. Devs only look at debug output that's referenced on the forum.

The file '22BJTTWA.zip' would exceed your Zotero File Storage quota
First, upgrade to the latest version of Zotero. You're running an out-of-date version that had a bug that caused it not to show an appropriate error message for this. As you can see in the debug output that you posted, you're hitting a Zotero File Storage quota error—presumably in the group you're an admin (but not the owner) of, since you have plenty of space in your own account.
