Where do I find the "visual basic for application package"

I have followed some of this discussion which seems to be related to the problem I am having. It does seem that my problem is with visual basic for applications but I cannot figure out where to "check it"

Yes, I am on a Mac. But no, this did not really help me. I reinstalled but the process is so automated that I was never given an option such as a checkbox for Visual Basic for Applications. I could not find anything in Word preferences, either. Any other ideas?
