Firefox hangs, stalls CONSTANTLY when I use Zotero

    Context:
    Chiming in to concur. I'm having this problem constantly as well, on a Zotero library of roughly the same size (~3400 items). I watch Firefox in Activity Monitor and note that this happens across many situations -- sometimes Firefox will spike to >100% CPU activity, other times it's showing nominal activity, but will still yield a "not responding" status. Some details on my experience:

    Software -- Firefox 21.0 with 5 - 20 tabs open, running both Zotero and Yoono. I try to close as many other applications as possible whenever i'm doing a lot of web archiving, so not many other demands on the system.

    Hardware -- MacBook Pro 10,6 (mid 2010) running OSX 10.8.4 w 8GB RAM
    adamasmith and dan stillman: so i ran the debugger on a sesssion this AM that exhibited a lot of the stalling and spinning wheel problems on my mac. it should be on your server under D77359904. can you have a peek? adam

    If you disable file syncing but leave auto-sync enabled, does this go away?

    many thanks for checking into this. i'll try that, and report back.

    are these settings that you're suggesting: i unclicked the two radio buttons under 'file syncing'.'

    Yes, that's right.

    Assuming temporarily disabling those checkboxes fixes the problem, we're working on a fix for this, and we'll have something for you to try shortly.
