things not saving in my library

I am signed in to Sage Publications and using an article from the Journal of Research in Music Education. The icon to save to zotero appears in my firefox toolbar, and when I click it, a pop-up box appears in the lower right corner saying it is saving the article to my library.
When I go in to my library, a folder has appeared, but when I click the folder it says "no items found". Where is the article? I have refreshed the page several times to no avail.

    Where/how do you go to your library?
    Note that your library primarily exists in your local copy of Zotero. Only via sync will it appear under "My Library" here on the webpage.

    I was under the impression if I signed in with my username that my library would be available. How do I enable the sync function?
