PDF attached to an item of Zotero database cannot be opened directly by double clicking

In Zotero 4.0.8 for firefox and Firefox 21.0, double clicking on it leads to activation of internal PDF viewer of Firefox that shows no content.

I hope the problem can be solved directly or by offering the user an option to automatically open externally already-installed PDF viewer (like adobe reader).

    you can also open any PDF in your system's default external viewer by right-click --> Open in External Viewer
