Edit Citation CSL in APA 6th Edition for Arabic

I tried using the Arabic language in microsoft word (with, right to left text direction), and when using Zotero with APA 6th Style, the result is:
citation: )سيسيسيس,2001:1(

citation above results indicate an unusual square brackets. but I tried to edit CSL:
<layouts prefix = ")" suffix = "("

result: (سيسيسيس, 2001:1)

but the problem is the page number preceding year arrangement, I want format citation as below:

(سيسيسيس,1:2001)

format: (pagenumber:year,author)

Can help me with the code I need for this?
  • A couple of us are working on a fix for this in the Multilingual Zotero variant (MLZ).

    https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/29321/rtl-parentheses/

Once we've figured out a reliable means of controlling the behaviour, a patch can be proposed for mainstream Zotero. Follow the thread linked above for updates.
  • Oops, sorry, I misspoke. The fix can be tested in both MLZ and Zotero, and when eventually complete, it will filter through to mainstream Zotero in the normal course of events.
  • I want format citation as below:

    (سيسيسيس,1:2001)
The discussion in the other thread is about parens. This is an additional RTL issue, which will (I think) raises some further problems.

The citation form you want is appropriate to RTL sources cited in RTL text. What form would you use for citing LTR sources in that context? That is, would it be "(Smith, 2001:1)" or "(1:2001, Smith)"?
  • I want it be "(1:2001, Smith)" in RTL text.

  • Hello,

fbennet and I have been working for a few weeks with another RTL
problem. The thing is I'm not able to get the result you got.

I would like to recreate your results. Could you please tell me
your setup (OS version and lang settings,Office settings Zotero/MLZ ...). Also, you said you edited the APAv6 style. Could you please
    send it to me?

    Thanks,
    David
  • Hai,

my setup, Windows Xp, Office word 2007 [ word option > advanced> show document content> numeral:context], language Arabic (saudi Arabia)with setting standard zotero. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By0ak4SmoF0TNnc4YUowV2tJdnM/edit?usp=sharing

but remember, this csl tyle edited, does not work if using citation language other. example :https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By0ak4SmoF0TVE9UNElwdUE5eWs/edit?usp=sharing
  • Until now this problem is unsolved. However, i found a solution to fix the reversed parentheses in Rtl text citation in Ms Word. just select the citation text inserted by Zotero word plug-in and apply the "Rtl Run" Command. "Rtl Run" Command is a hidden command in Ms-Word which you can bring up to the Quick Access toolbar.
